This ground-breaking experimental work was Vangelis' fourth and final album for RCA Records. Released in 1978 and recorded at his personal studio in London 'Nemo', it was a defining experimental electronic album of the era.

Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of newly remastered and sonically enhanced editions of the albums recorded for the RCA and Arista labels by Vangelis. All of these reissues come in deluxe digi-pack designs, with new masters personally supervised by Vangelis. This Esoteric Recordings release (undertaken with the full approval and supervision of Vangelis himself) features a rare and sought after bonus track, "Sing with Your Eyes", released only as part of the highly limited and promotional "Wisdom Chain" CD-Single in 1991. It also includes a booklet that restores the original album artwork.
VANGELIS Remastered in 2013 by Vangelis, and reissued with BONUS track "Sing With Your Eyes"! Final 1991 collaboration between the Yes vocalist Jon Anderson and Greek synthesist/composer.

At last, I have the Fictitious Productions version of L'Arbre de Vie, and it has been worth the wait. It has a few hiccups, but there is some really great music, including Movement 11. See if you can recognize it.

Fictitious Productions have "remastered" and re-edited a few Vangelis soundtracks, ranging from the very good L'Apocalypse des Animaux, to the passable L'Arbre de Vie. This falls in between the two, reworking the Off World Music version of Antarctica. They also follow their usual practice of sticking very close to the original artwork, or, with the more recent releases, the Esoteric remaster style artwork. It is certainly much better than the OWM or Arkhan artworks. If you are burning this to CD, use glossy photo paper, as standard paper looks just like a xerox!

Edgar Rothermich - Blade Runner - A 30th Annivesary Celebration (2012)
If Edgar Rothermich is indeed a replicant of Vangelis, then his DNA is only one generation away from the source here. Having collaborated with Tangerine Dream member Christopher Franke, Rothermich certainly has the 80′s synth chops to astoundingly recreate “Blade Runner”‘s score from ear alone. Seemingly performed on the original computer banks that “Blade Runner” magically sprang from in Vangelis’ “electronic laboratory,” Rothermich’s gear is perfectly attuned. Rothermich’s attention to detail is so fastidious that we even get the piano-tapping cue “Deckard’s Dream,” complete with the sound of passing flying cars at its start, and the voices of the Unicorn that marked him as artificial life.

Vangelis - Amore (Original Soundtrack to the film by Henri Chapier) 2016 [mp3 @ 320kps]
There are two versions of the Amore soundtrack out there, the Ina.Fr version, which is awful, (almost half of the music isn't Vangelis, and the sound quality is poor), and this, from Monster Melodies, which is better. It is a rip from the new vinyl release, purportedly from the original tapes, but the sound suggests that they have degraded since 1970. Understandably.

The almighty Vangelis has distilled his “long-held passion for space” into a 13-track album called Rosetta.
Out via Decca on September 23, the new LP from the Blade Runner composer was both inspired by and created for the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Rosetta Mission, which is the first successful mission to land a space probe on a comet. Launched in 2004, Rosetta took 10 years to reach Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, finally landing on November 12 2014. The release of Rosetta marks the end of the 12-year mission and is accompanied by images captured by the probe. Vangelis composed this “suite of inter-connected music” specifically for the ESA and dedicated the album to “everyone who made ESA’s ongoing Rosetta Mission possible”. ‘Rosetta Waltz’, which you can hear below, has been described as “an expression of his appreciation to the mission team.” The electronic pioneer says that “mythology, science and space exploration” have fascinated him since early childhood. “They were always connected somehow with the music I write.” Rosetta is the latest science-themed projects from the Academy Award-winning artist that includes the choral symphony ‘Mythodea’ for NASA’s 2001 Mission to Mars, as well as soundtracks for films like Antarctica, 1492: Conquest of Paradise and Alexander...
