about

In July 1967, the British and United States Government secretly convened to embark on an important joint scientific experiment which would propel both nations further into the space race than ever before and ensure the Soviet Union would be far behind the curve.
This joint effort would be called ‘Project Briar Rose’.

Working exclusively with NASA, The British Interplanetary Society had already made a head start in the early 1940’s to design ways to put a manned long-distance flight into space.
The technological advances made by NASA only helped to further our cause.

After an exhaustive and extensive search, we were glad to have found experienced American Fighter Pilot *name redacted* to lead the crew of four on this exciting and pioneering journey into the vast unknown of space. The crew would consist of an experienced pilot, a scientist, a geologist, and a teacher.

In the early 1960’s, NASA conducted extensive experiments with cryogenic freezing and explored the possibilities of placing humans into cryogenic chambers for space travel.

In 1968, human cryogenic experiments were conducted, and attempts were made to find out if such a method of cryogenic sleep was achievable. These experiments were conducted secretly and the results, overwhelming.

We are still under a strict non-disclosure policy and must NEVER release to the public that we have utilised this methodology for Project Briar Rose.

The aim of the Briar Rose project was to launch a secret manned mission in 1970 which would go far beyond our known solar system, to pass through the heliosphere and enter unknown interstellar space.

This would precede the ‘public’ Voyager exploration craft that were due to be launched in the mid to late 1970’s. These craft were designed to be ‘slower’ in their mission compared to our specially designed ‘Light Speed’ rocket craft for our project. It had been a very long time and we were due a radio transmission update from *name redacted* by late Autumn 1979.

This never occurred.
We presumed all was lost.
The crew dead.

But in July 1980, mission control received a signal.
It was from the Briar Rose.
And then, we heard a voice…
