Brainwave is a brilliant wash of synthesizers and samples set to fast moving bass lines and percussion. Modern electronica, with early German electronic music roots. Brainwave (Vince Andrae) main influences are early Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Orbital, progressive and new wave rock. He was the leader of a fusion influenced new wave rock band in the 80’s called "Life On Other Planets". The band played mostly very tight original rock in the vein of Level 42 or XTC, and also covers by The Talking Heads, The Police, Brian Ferry, The Flying Lizards, etc. The band played the Milwaukee circuit through the 80’s and performed on stage with the likes of The Stranglers, The Violent Femmes and Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads. Vince's main thrust though, were always electronic music. Even though Life On Other Planets did a fair amount of improvising, he always "wrote songs", do to his background in progressive rock, and the new wave era. That tendency sticks with him. With Brainwave, Vince set out to do a more flowing, techno-ambient, instrumental approach. Fill his Kurzweil K2000 with some inspirational samples or get some arpeggiators bubbling on his Access Virus Indigo. From there, compose layers and melodies. He doesn't leave songs very open ended. He always hears a "best" version in his head and works to get there. Folks seeking melodic, inspired techno with a touch of solid space rock will find this CD fulfilling. -- Jeff Berkwitts, THE ILLINOIS ENTERTAINER With Brainwave, Vince hasn't just jumped on track, he's hitched one hell of a ride! -- Mike Pfeiffer, ETCH MAGAZINE CDBaby Tracklist: 1.
