Not comfortably labeled New Age, or percussion music, or pop, or electronic music, Van Tieghem's music has that "downtown" mix of all these and yet is distinctly his own...from the lush "Crystals" to the droll and rhythm steady "Night of the Cold Noses." This is twisted "easy listening." ~ "Blue" Gene Tyranny. Synth-y excellence from American composer David Van Tieghem. A deeply layered, lush-yet-mechanical sound composed of drum machines, chiming guitars, and lots and lots of synthesizer/keyboard. Probably sounded hella futuristic when it came out, and still sounds way fucking cool today:) ~ Avant-garde electronic percussionist. The first album is done in collaboration with other musicians and incorporates various computer collages and synth phrases embellished by diverse percussion and chromatic percussion-like sounds (marimba, vibraphone, etc). Safety In Numbers is more spacey and ambient, while Strange Cargo is largely influenced by Ryuichi Sakamoto's style. David van Tieghem worked with such luminaries of progressive / experimental scene as Steve Reich, Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno, Jon Gibson, Robert Fripp, Ryuichi Sakamoto, John Zorn, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, John Cale, Richard Peaslee and Bill Laswell, to name but a few. - http://pugachov.ru/eem/ta.html#TIEGHEMDAVIDVAN Discogs | Bandcamp Trackslist: 1.
