Gagarin is the solo electronic incarnation of Graham "Dids" Dowdall - long time composer/producer/musician with a pedigree that includes a long stint playing with Nico in the 80s and current membership of avant legends Pere Ubu...Originally a drummer Dids moved towards electronics along time ago and employs a mixture of aging hardware, software and ipad apps to create and perform live his compositions...Corvid continues his exploration of the interface between melody, beat and noise - urban and pastoral soundworlds. In 2016 Dids was commissioned to compose 5 pieces for 5 hills in Surrey and reworks of 4 of these pieces appear on Corvid alongside other new work. The soundworld contains elements of ambient, dance music, avant garde electronics, field recordings and abstract improvisation carefully composed into short cinematic expositions. It's accessible but also challenging.
