Lyle Newton's music was presented to me as: "This is also sequencer-stuff but different". As I always try to look for new things, I took a listen and got interested. Musically, he is balancing somewhere between the old German masters and more modern influences but, happily in my opinion, it never gets to modern. Thoughts of early eighties Tangerine Dream sometimes come into my head while listening to this album. Piece like "Moon Over Elmora" and "One Step At The Time" have a soundtrack-like quality. "Into The Realm Of The Unknown" is a good title because the music is dark and mystical. Newton's sequencer-patterns are very good, just take pieces like "Among The Missing", "New Horizon" and "Distant Starlight" which are well-constructed. Actually, that last phrase counts for this whole album. - Paul Rijkens
