Karakoram is led by guitarist Andy Hagiioannu, who is also a composer for TV and other media. If you watch mainstream TV in Europe and the UK you'll most likely have heard his music there. Storm Chaser is an adventurous album with epic space-rock leanings and lyrical guitar work. it's difficult to pinpoint influences, but maybe there are echoes on this album of Tangerine Dream, Yes and late-period Can. Second album by underground Space Rock outfit, Karakoram. An underground classic. The pulsating power chords of 'Overture Solaris' portend a dramatic, sci-fi take on heavy metal - a promise emphatically delivered in what follows. Standouts include the long, ambient/progressive 'Storm Chasers', with it's space-jazz electric piano, astronaut dialogue and face-melting guitar. Like a weird cross between Allan Holdsworth and Steely Dan it wends compellingly through jazz-rock byways to an intriguing, enigmatic conclusion, with cavernous, mercurial swirls of a final hypnotic soundscape. Likewise 'Captains of Industry is a mysterious amalgam of swirling electronica and massive, ambient guitar chords. It's a sound that evokes a symphonic version of Hawkwind recorded somewhere beyond the Milky Way. WebSite | CDBaby TRACKLIST: 1. Overture Solaris - 4:29 2. Storm Chasers - 10:27 3.
