Tom Habes started his career in Electronic Music circa 1986. He is mostly known for his work as Optical Image, a project in New Berlin School style. Tom's music is very soundtrack-like and was used in many TV productions. More symphonic pyrotechnics from Tom Habes. Tom seems to have decided to give more traditional EM a rest and instead go for lush orchestrated pieces. The result, to say the least is impressive. With 13 tracks on display, ranging from 1½ to 16 minutes in length, there’s certainly a lot on offer. The music constantly reminds me of Chris Franke in soundtrack mode. The tracks could be slotted into ‘Babylon 5’ and no one would notice. There are poignant interludes aplenty, however the full blooded flourishes tend to take centre stage. It’s impossible not to conjure up imagery when listening to this music. With complementary visuals this music would be stunning. As it is it’s an incredible example of how synths can reproduce full blown orchestral textures. I’d be surprised if Tom Habes wasn’t commissioned for some form of soundtrack work in the near future. On this form he certainly deserves to be. WebSite | Review | Review TRACKLIST: 1. High Stakes - 2:42 2. One's Man's Crusade - 2:30 3. Dead-End - 2:18 4. Images (Part 1) - 16:09 5. Infinity - 3:21 6.
