Holosphere - Holosphere (2003)
Holosphere is the electronic collaboration of Greg Waltzer (Mutation Vector, Xeroid Entity, Fringe Element) and Jose Murcia (Symmetry, Fringe Element). Their self-titled debut CD was released in December of 2003. This is quintessential space music, which transports the listener to another dimension. It contains ambient as well as rhythmic and melodic elements. While being innovative and original, it is also very accessible. For music which was recorded live and mostly improvised, it retains a surprising coherence throughout.
Mutation Vector was formed in 1999, as a collaborative electronic music exploration by Greg Waltzer and James Lacey. Besides being fun, the unique results they produced inspired them to begin recording. Two CDs (Grimly Oblivious and Lava Stigmata) were completed in 2000, and Placebo Merchant in the fall of 2002. Recently they have started performing. Greg Waltzer is the driving force (the "Vector") behind Mutation Vector, doing most of the programming, composing, and production. He started creating electronic music in 1981, and after a 15 year hiatus for family and career reasons, got back into it with a vengeance in 1999. James Lacey is the mutant component, adding his unrestrained and uniquely demented style of sonic mayhem that gives Mutation Vector a character unlike anything else.
Mutation Vector explores the boundaries between organic and electronic, ambient and melodic, subtle and demented, order and chaos. The music is retro-styled while still being experimental and completely original. It is alive, improvised and constantly mutating. Our only constraint is that it must be fun to play. We hope you will enjoy listening as much as we enjoy playing!
Placebo Merchant is the latest CD recorded by Mutation Vector, but it is the first to be offered here on electro-music.com. We look forward to offering others in the future. We think Mutation Vector will become one of the top electronic music groups once the word gets out. Placebo Merchant is delightful - accessable to fans of all genres of electronic music. This record is very hard to describe because it is full of variety, but it is consistently of high quality; good sound and musically interesting. Mutation Vector - Kill It Before It Multiplies! (2004)
Kill It Before It Multiplies contains music that was performed live by Mutation Vector at various events around the USA from 2002 to 2004. Though recorded in the studio, it captures the energy and exuberance of those performances. Unique yet accessible, wild and melodic, it explodes with the unrestrained love of sound and the joy of creating music. There is nothing sterile about the effluence of Mutation Vector. No computers are involved, it is played by the organic human beings Greg Waltzer and James Lacey.
Technicolor Travel Agency is the musical duo of Greg Waltzer (synthesizers and sequencers) and Johnny Doyle (guitar). Their improvisational excursions take the listener on a journey of the mind, fusing world motifs with psychedelic guitar and spaced-out electronics. This Way Out is their debut CD, recorded at the Cloud Chamber in Bushkill, PA and released in July 2009. Check out this review by Barry Saranchuk. Their second CD, Water Gap, continues the same melodic and rhythmic style, while adding a few new instruments (mandolin, flute, melodica). Released in February 2010, it includes studio recordings of the material performed at the electro-music 2009 festival. "Wholesome, sexy, tripped out, technologically advanced earthy space songs to enjoy around a campfire on Mars. Don't beam up, I'm ridin' this one out!" - Chris Francz, ArtAttack Radio
Fringe Element was formed in January 2003 as an outlet for the chaotic tendencies of Michael Victor, Jose Murcia (JEM), James Lacey and Greg Waltzer. James and Greg make up Mutation Vector, whose Placebo Merchant is available at electro-music.com. Greg is also a member of Xeroid Entity, whose Moons of Saturn is available here also. Waltzer is a rising star in the world of electro-music. Fringe Element's music is boisterous and unrestrained, but also ventures into dark ambient and experimental soundscapes.
