Vangelis - Direct (Official Vangelis Supervised Remastered Edition) (2013)
'Direct' was released by Arista Records in October 1988 and was the first Vangelis to be recorded in Athens, following his relocation to the city from London. A fine body of work, the album title was inspired by his method of composing and recording, relying on spontaneity, with the compositional and recording process occurring simultaneously in the studio with few (if any) overdubs taking place.

Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of newly remastered and sonically enhanced editions of the albums recorded for the RCA and ARISTA labels by VANGELIS. All of these reissues come in deluxe digi-pack designs, with new masters personally supervised by VANGELIS. The magnificent "SPIRAL” was VANGELIS’ third album for RCA Records. Released in 1977, the album was recorded at his personal studio in London, Nemo and was a defining Electronic album of the era, with VANGELIS demonstrating his total mastery of the synthesizer technology of the period. Pieces such as the majestic "To the Unknown Man” brought Electronic music to new dimensions. This Esoteric Recordings release (undertaken with the full approval and supervision of VANGELIS himself) features a rare and sought after bonus track, previously unissued on CD, "To the Unknown Man (II)”, released as a B-side of the single "To the Unknown Man” in 1977. It also includes a booklet that restores the original album artwork.

Today, we celebrate the 71st birthday of the Maestro, the unique genius, Vangelis! Happy birthday, and thank you for the music. I hope for many years more!
Vangelis - Il n'y Mer Musique (There is Sea Music) (2014?) Compilation. mp3 @ 128kps + recovery data, tested, front cover
1: Il n'y Mer Musique (76:53)
(Running order) 01 Open Up Of The Ocean 02 Change We Must 03 Dreams Of Surf 04 Dream An Open Place 05 Come To Me 06 Prelude 07 Bon Voyage 08 Roxane's Veil 09 Tender Memories 10 P.S. 11 Rachel 12 Songs Of The Sea 13 Line Open 14 Bitter Moon 15 Slow Peace 16 Missing 17 Twilight 18 Fields Of Coral 19 West Across The Ocean Sea
A fan made compilation, (I think), found on youtube, which is one long segued track. There is nothing new included. It is a beautifully relaxing listen, though.
(And before anyone corrects my French, that is the spelling on the cover image!)
Vangelis - L'Arbre de Vie (Fictitious Productions) (2013) FLAC + recovery data, tested, artwork
At last, I have the Fictitious Productions version of L'Arbre de Vie, and it has been worth the wait. It has a few hiccups, but there is some really great music, including Movement 11. See if you can recognize it.
01. Movement 1 0.41 02. Movement 2 3.21 03. Movement 3 2.50 04. Movement 4 2.47 05. Movement 5 5.47 06. Movement 6 2.27 07. Movement 7 4.21 08. Movement 8 4.19 09. Movement 9 0.53 10. Movement 10 1.48 11. Movement 11 5.10
Fictitious Productions have "remastered" and re-edited a few Vangelis soundtracks, ranging from the very good L'Apocalypse des Animaux, to the passable L'Arbre de Vie. This falls in between the two, reworking the Off World Music version of Antarctica. They also follow their usual practice of sticking very close to the original artwork, or, with the more recent releases, the Esoteric remaster style artwork. It is certainly much better than the OWM or Arkhan artworks. If you are burning this to CD, use glossy photo paper, as standard paper looks just like a xerox!
1: Main Titles 2: Deliverance 3: Land of Antarctica 4: Life of Antarctica 5: Antarctic echoes 6: Memory of Antarctica 7: Other Side of Antarctica 8: Floating on Ice 9: Escape from Antarctica 10: Wind of Antarctica 11: Kinematic 12: Light of Antarctica 13: Borealis 14: Song of White 15: End Titles
Edgar Rothermich - Blade Runner - A 30th Annivesary Celebration (2012)
If Edgar Rothermich is indeed a replicant of Vangelis, then his DNA is only one generation away from the source here. Having collaborated with Tangerine Dream member Christopher Franke, Rothermich certainly has the 80′s synth chops to astoundingly recreate “Blade Runner”‘s score from ear alone. Seemingly performed on the original computer banks that “Blade Runner” magically sprang from in Vangelis’ “electronic laboratory,” Rothermich’s gear is perfectly attuned. Rothermich’s attention to detail is so fastidious that we even get the piano-tapping cue “Deckard’s Dream,” complete with the sound of passing flying cars at its start, and the voices of the Unicorn that marked him as artificial life.
