ROB - Maniac - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2013)
As is with many genre scores of recent times, Rob’s score is heavily indebted to the synth sounds of the 80s. It’s a really striking piece of work, absolutely grimy and sleazy and appropriately murderous, but with a real sense of melody. Behind the echoing electronics, there are flickers of humanity and even regret. But Rob also presents moments of euphoria, cemented with the floor-shaking finale ‘Juno’, with Chloe Alper’s amazing Goldfrapp-esque vocals. Magnificent!

Andy Fosberry - Death Ship 2047 (2020)
‘Death Ship 2047’ by Andy Fosberry: Sci-fi inspired electronic themes for a journey into hell and back...
Album by electronic composer Andy Fosberry was inspired by the 1997 space horror movie Event Horizon. It is very dramatic and full of dark synth textures which recall the tense horror of the movie. The album took shape as it was announced that another branch of the Event Horizon story was being made. It got Fosberry thinking about how much he loved the original.

Delmak-O - Cerulean Tomb (2020)
Cerulean Tomb is the story of a dead earth, the scientists who leave it to find a new home, and the desolation that consumes them. For the full story, visit the artist's page and enjoy the short fiction detailing the events of the album!
Delmak-O is the project of a prolific and multidimensional musician haling from Colorado. Cerulean Tomb is a masterpiece of atmosphere, melancholy, and dread. It takes the listener on a tour of emptiness, from the smothering heat and dust of a dead earth, to the silence and consuming vacuum of deep space travel, to the unforgiving alien cold of the ice planet Cerulean 02, and finally to the void that follows human life. The story is woven from a tapestry of rich analog synth and meditative melody, evoking the classic film soundtracks of musicians such as Vangelis and Wendy Carlos. This is an album to get lost in.
It’s a dark, moody affair, populated by 17 nuanced neon-noir synth score cues for a film not yet made. There are moments when this album flows like the Cliff Martinez-Makeup and Vanity Set collaboration that never was, and others when ’80s Vangelis shines through. There are other instances that tend to sound like something released on Burning Witches Records or, yes, like the work of John Carpenter. But it’s never derivative of any of those composers, instead somehow blending all their better angels into something rich and rewarding for the listener.
The entire world of Darkly Dreaming – disturbances that shift about like cold specters at night and which sit uncomfortably on our chests like anthropomorphised anxiety - manifests intensely through each haunting synth run, shuddering rhythm, and reverberated guitar part on the album’s 17 engaging, unsettling, and slightly hopeful tracks.
